Urban bus transport in developing countries accounts for the major share of daily commuter demand. However, many of these systems are not optimized and suffer from delays, cancellations, over-crowding leading to losses. Bus transport operators need new ITS solutions for schedule optimization and fleet management to improve efficiency and profitability.
At Hitachi, we conduct research to optimize public transportation operations to realize secure and comfortable urban mobility. We have developed a simulation-driven tool to optimize parameters for transport schedule operations that can be utilized by large fleet operators or transportation service providers.
With the effective analysis of operational, planning and real-time location data from various sources, the simulator can improve the measurable performance indicators for the service providers e.g., passenger load factor, departure headways, vehicle utilization, earnings, etc.
